Why an Updated Virus Definition so important?

 

Anti-virus works using a database of known virus definitions that the software compare with detected potential threat. Unless the particular virus definition for the virus is in the computer at the point of scanning, the software will not be able to capture such virus. This is the most common reason for failure to detect. Some people use outdated anti-virus; don't even think about it!!

Symantec users should keep their anti-virus updated using automatic updating. It updates the definition every Wednesday.

Each intelligent update require download of about 4 to 5 MB so an unlimited broadband plan is better.

If your anti-virus failed and virus attack your PC, there is a high chance that it will resend the virus to all the contacts in your pc. Do the next best In your Outlook, add this 1000a@a.a in your address book. It is invalid and will cause error message. Being the first address, subsequent messages will be "stuck".
